Dear Parents,


    What a fabulous back to school night!  I hope you had as much fun as I did visiting with friends and neighbors and feeling the excitement of a new school year.  I would like to give a huge thank you to Chris Andrus who coordinated all of the food for this event as well as the many other volunteers who made this night possible.  I am sure you were wondering about all the gorgeous young women in attendance serving the food, helping with paperwork, and cleaning up trash.  You would be correct in assuming it was the PTA board, but we had a lot of help from the mighty Ogden High School Tigerettes.  They did an excellent job and we appreciate their help! Go Tigers!


    Our PTA theme for this year is “QUEST FOR SUCCESS”.  Each month we will focus on a specific goal that supports our theme.  This month our quest is safety.     Jeanette Hogan is the brave knight who will lead us in this endeavor.  Janette is in charge of Green Ribbon week, our pedestrian safety program.  She has many fun activities and an arsenal of tips for keeping our children safe.  Please help us in this quest for safety by following the traffic rules around Shadow Valley Elementary, obeying speed limits, especially near schools and stopping for buses that are loading and unloading our children.


WE INTERRUPT THIS MESSAGE FOR AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT……..WE ARE IN DANGER OF LOSING THE CHOIR THIS YEAR!!!  


    We are in need of a choir director and an accompanist.  If you are willing, or you know anyone who would be willing to fill these positions you can contact me at president@shadowvalleypta.org.  This has been a wonderful opportunity for our students, and it would be unfortunate not to continue this program.


    Please come to our PTA meetings!!! We desperately need your input, advice and suggestions. If you can remember the number 2, you should have no problem remembering when the PTA meetings are scheduled. Our meetings will be the second Tuesday of every month at 2pm.  Our first meeting will be on September 13th.   This is going to be a great year and I look forward to working with all of the amazing teachers, students, and parents in our school community.
